Didn’t they use M14 in Nam?
lucky for you guys, the only thing I know about as much as guitars is guns. The M14 actually had a very short run as the standard issue rifle in the military. The bulky design and wood components weren’t really well suited to jungle warfare. They started issuing prototypes of the M16 as a replacement to the M14 back in ‘63, then redesigned and standardized it as the M16A1 in ‘67.
